Masterchef Challenge

With the increasing popularity of TV shows such as Masterchef and MKR where contestants compete to cook and prepare dishes to be critiqued by a panel of judges, I am confident that many of our students, given the opportunity, have asked themselves; could I do the same and be successful in the process?

Students at Pasadena High School and the Australian Science and Mathematics School (ASMS) were given this exciting opportunity during the week working in collaboration to produce meals using ingredients that conform to the Institute of Sustainable Futures (ISF) standards of sustainable and ethical sources.

A visit to the Central Market and the Royal Adelaide Show ‘Taste SA’ food pavilion on Wednesday saw nine senior school groups searching for their ingredients with $20 in hand and enthusiasm on the boil. On Thursday the ultimate Masterchef challenge steamed into the Pasadena High School industrial kitchen where anticipation was the flavour of the room. By Midday all students had plated up and with knife and fork in hand the judges wrapped their taste buds around the culinary delights presented by the gifted contestants.

Pasadena High School would like to congratulate the PHS and ASMS students involved in this event and look forward to sharing many more successful partnerships in the future.
