Harmony Day 2021

In true Harmony Day style the day was all about harmony and plenty about style as students adorned themselves in team colours to spend a day connecting, competing and challenging each other in a diverse and inclusive sports day event held on Tuesday 16 March 2021.

While there were most definitely a number of events that revealed the competitive spirit that has been wildly stirring in the hearts of many of our young people since our last Harmony day in 2019, there was equally a good proportion who were keen to just get out there and have a go, no matter the result.

Chants of red, yellow, blue and green kept the gymnasium alive with a sustained level of enthusiasm for fellow team mates giving it all to build points and be recognized as the 2021 Harmony day successors. But before we ponder the connection between harmony and the vigorous nature of healthy competition it is important to note that Springbank students pride themselves on spirit, the spirit of encouraging each other, sharing goals and ensuring their peers are included; the celebration of this personal and social capability was demonstrated through the earning of ‘Spirit’ points.

Whether it was pegging someone’s legs with a dodgeball from the back court, dropping a basketball with nothing-but-net from the constraints of a wheelchair, back and forehand classics in table tennis and badminton, improvisation in theatre sports or a flying 100 metre dash across the oval, everyone’s spirit was enabled in this fun and thought-provoking day.

Congratulations to Yellow for earning the right to be called 2021 Harmony Day champions.
